Saint John is home to some fantastic breweries and cideries – and they’re part of what makes Uptown Saint John so great. The best part is they’re all within walking distance of each other and there’s plenty else to do while you’re out there!
Visit the City Market
If it’s been a while since you’ve passed through the market, now’s your chance to get back there. It’s a great atmosphere to walk around in – and of course, it’s home to the taproom and home base for Uncorked Tours.
Grab a bite
There’s no shortage of places to eat Uptown – and there’s something for everyone.
There’s Big Tide – they’ve earned a reputation for high-quality brews accompanied by some very tasty meals. (I’ve personally enjoyed many of their deep-fried pickles.)
Gahan Port City is a great choice for anyone who loves pub food, including fresh East Coast oysters, and beautifully crafted brews.
Britts Pub and Eatery has your English-style pub food needs covered – and they always have some good local brews on tap for your enjoyment.
On the way to your meal you’re likely to see a store or three that catches your eye – the clothing and jewelry at Heartbreak Boutique and the oddities and housewares at Obscurity are personal favourites, but one mustn’t overlook the high-quality threads at Pristine or the mouthwatering candies at Freak Lunchbox either. Make sure to check out Bella's Traditional Ice Cream and Delish Gourmet Rolled Ice Cream for some sweet treats!
Stroll down Harbour Passage
If the weather is nice, it’s worth taking a stroll along Harbour Passage’s cranberry-coloured trail and taking in those scenic water views. What’s not to love about a nice, peaceful experience smack in the middle of Uptown?
Grab some brews for later at Picaroons General Store
Picaroons has a well-stocked beer fridge where you can grab cans of their own selections, or from other NB breweries and cideries. It’s the perfect place to grab and go – but there’s no judgment if you can’t resist sitting down for wood-fired pizza from Pomodori Pizza, which shares the space with the taproom. (I don’t believe I’ve ever passed up an opportunity to eat their margherita pizza.)
There's more than enough to make a great day trip to Uptown Saint John!
